citizens, though in practice these are not always recognized. Extensive human rights abuses still occur in several parts of Africa, often under the oversight of the state. The situation of human rights in Africa and for that
matter Ghana is generally reported to be poor, and it is seen as an area of grave concern according to the UN, and non-governmental observers. The organization deals with issues of reproductive rights (harmful traditional practices such as female circumcision), issues of rape, child trafficking, assault, unlawful detention and eviction Etc. It carries out its work by means of investigation, research, training, publications and capacity building. It collaborates with governments, inter-governmental organizations, academia, students and civil society. It aims to apply human rights to social change initiatives, advancement and improvement of human rights. The courts in Ghana however, ensure a culture of respect for the rights and obligations of all people in Ghana, dispensing and promoting justice in a free, informal, formal and relatively expeditious manner, ensuring fairness, efficiency, transparency and application of best practices.
