PROJECTS

One of our mission is to strive to develop the global world by bridging the gap between the privileged and the underprivileged by providing support to deprived and needy communities. PREVOG has an outline of projects it wishes to undertake in the rural and deprived areas of Ghana with the help of well meaning individuals and organizations to partner us in other to achieve these objectives.

Setting up a Community Resource Centers.

Through our own experience and research, our local Youth Groups and Women Groups have stressed how difficult it is for them to access useful information that would facilitate the achievement of their objectives. As a result, it is our intended aim to set up community resource center at a cost of US$ 3,500 (for a start) that will focus on gathering, storing, and disseminating information to grass root, Women groups and Youth groups using modern methods and technologies. The center will also act as a fundraising Center where local development initiatives will be trained on things like Proposal writing, Internet fundraising, Project planning, implementation and management and other relevant, practical and essential issues. The center will offer Internet access, library services, project consultancy and community training and capacity building to these communities.

Construction of boreholes

Most rural communities in Ghana do not have access to portable or clean drinking water. Their sources of water are mostly from nearby water bodies such as rivers and lakes. Though the government is trying its best to provide such areas with water, we can see that it is not making any meaningful progress which will determine its completion in the shortest possible time. PREVOG wishes to supplement the government’s efforts by helping such communities with the necessary support to have boreholes which will go in the long ran to reduce the risk of contracting water borne diseases such guinea worm, cholera and other associated diseases.

Building community health centres
It is our concern and wish to build community health centres across the country. We seek to build health care centres in communities that do not have access to nearby hospital or clinic. This move is intended to reduce the risk of having to move sick people who live in such communities over long distances to a hospital and to ease the pressure on the regional hospitals. This in the long ran would reduce the mortality rate in such communities.

Setting up community libraries

Education is one of our focus areas we seek to promote,we wish to establish community based libraries where children and adults alike can go and study and do researches in a conducive atmosphere. We will then encourage grass roots reading clubs to make good use of the facility. Schools in such communities will also be encouraged to participate in the activities of the library.

The presence of volunteers in the various communities we visit creates a very conducive atmosphere. Communities are especially eager to listen to us when volunteers are present. They are so delighted to be visited by volunteers and therefore react to teachings and other developmental programs aimed at improving their living conditions in an enthusiastic manner.
