There are genuine need for assistance particularly in schools, orphanages, health care centers, community building etc
We offer volunteer work in the areas of Education, Health, and Social services. While all of our placements are individually determined based on each volunteer's skills or interests, typical volunteer work placements are represented here for your review.
VOLUNTEERING PROGRAMMES AT A GLANCE
TEACHING PROGRAMME
There is a genuine need for assistance particularly in primary schools where education has recently been made compulsory across the country – there are simply not enough teachers to go around so any extra help is very gladly welcomed. You will work alongside your local colleagues, primarily to teach either:

HIV/AIDS PROGRAMME
AIDS is responsible for over 3 million deaths in Africa. Despite major investments in AIDS prevention, the rate of HIV infection in many African countries is still rising. The HIV/AIDS epidemic has exacerbated poverty and malnutrition. Families hit by AIDS see their food production cut in half. UN AIDS and WHO estimate that 7 out of 10 people newly infected with HIV live in sub-Saharan Africa. Of all AIDS-related deaths since the epidemic started, 83% have come from Africa. READ MORE..... |

Student welfare coordinator:
Taking the concerns and problems of students and having the parents and the school administrators aware of them by coming up with the best approach to solving them. Most schools or students do not have welfare coordinators and therefore students curriculum or social problem are left unattended to. Your presence and support would helps students build confidence in themselves and gain energy for new accomplishments. This placement does not require specialised skills or knowledge, just communication and written ability. |
Administrative assistant:
In most schools and organizations assistance is needed to organise and put the office in the best of shape and help in basic office duties. The volunteer would be required to performed a range of duties for the school managers and supervisors sometimes simultaneously. Proficient in the use of personal computer to compose, analyze, store and retrieve data correspondence would be an advantage. These include Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook express. Volunteering in this placement would let you realise your sensitivity, awareness and ability to build rapport with all levels of management staff |
Student Volunteers:
Student volunteers are those students who spend time volunteering at under a Service learning program. This gives students the opportunity to learn more about what goes on in the communities and some of the challenges faced by the under privileged and thereby earn some school credits needed to graduate. Student volunteers usually spend a semester or two volunteering for few hours. They assist the people we support with work objectives, such as shredding paper, crushing paper, making logo buttons, packaging flatware, learning other skills from an organization. |
Family Volunteers/Group Volunteers:
Family volunteers are those people who are related to the people we serve and volunteer their time and services. Examples of things they do include coordinating social activities, calling other family members to inform them of upcoming events, speaking to various people and other business leaders about upcoming activities. Welcoming new family volunteers as well.
Volunteer abroad with a group of your friends, colleagues, or peers for a rewarding and fun experience. Embrace a new culture together and share in the experience of a lifetime. Make new friends volunteering abroad, develop leadership skills, and learn a lot about your self in the process. All types of groups are invited to volunteer with PREVOG. |
Sport coaches/play time coordinators:
Volunteers are needed to teach children various sports like football, baseball, basketball, table tennis, golf, hockey etc. Ghanaians children love their sports especially football. It would be nice opportunity to coach or coodinate students in the area sports and fitness.
Free time:
During your volunteer experience, you’ll enjoy plenty of free time to relax, reflect and explore the community. Free time is available some afternoons, most evenings and every weekend. This time is yours to get to know the community and people in your own way. You’ll enjoy the local markets, historic places of interest, Internet cafes and more.
Our local staff can give you suggestions for places to visit or you can create your own agenda. During your weekends, you can take excursions to other parts of the country; explore the community or the neighborhoods.

Computer instructor:
To teach computer applications and programs, such as word, excel and basic computer applications. School children are gradually being exposed to computers and may need just basic computer flying start. so use this opportunity to share your skills! You will be amazed just how much you know and can pass on to your eager students. IT education is gradually taking root in this part of the world, so you would realise that in a computer class room, one computer is being shared by 4 students or more. IT skills are becoming important requirement to employment in Ghana and therefore parents are encouraging their children to take computer studies seriously. In Ghana, for instance only a hand full of homes have personal computers for their children to practise.
You don't need any qualifications for this placement especially, if it involves primary or junior high school students. On the other hand, placement are available for higher computer instrutors in the areas of MICROSOFT OFFICE SUIT, WEBSITE AND GRAPHIC DESIGNING, A+, N+, PROGRAMMING, CISCO, SYSTEMS AND DATABASE ADMINISTRATION, ETC.
These may require qualification or specialized knowledge. Most of the computer instrutors are Ghanaians, it be welcoming opportunity for these students to have a perspective from a foreign instrutor.
